Most places charge less than 99 dollars for one lesson. Private lessons vary from $20 to $40, and group lessons (semi-private) are usually less.

Well, I don't know where you live, so I can't actually help you, but YES, there are barns that offer lessons for less than $99.  In fact, I have never taken a lesson that cost more than $99.  I suggest that you keep looking.  Even when I lived in the middle of Washington DC and didn't have a car to get to a rural area, I still found lessons for less than $99.  If you live in Ohio, I can give you names of barns for lessons.  If you live somewhere else, I suggest you keep looking...  try the phone book and the internet.  There's bound to be somewhere that has lessons for less than $99.

although it's highly unlikely that you live where i do on Long Island, in the case you do there's a horse stable in Old Bethpage in eastern Nassau county.
