Does anyone have info or had an experience with methods of pain relief besides an epidermal for child birth?

im scared of getting an epideral. i been leaning towards natural birth but still would like an option for pain relief.

  2. There are other options for the relief of pain during childbirth aside from the western standard of epidural injection.  

    Different studies on the effects of hypnosis, guided meditation, acupuncture, and massage have shown relief in the pain associated with childbirth.

    I previously worked as a paramedic and have delivered many babies in the field without the use of any pain medications.  From my experience, the effects of childbirth pain is very relative to the person giving birth.  For example, previous deliveries seem to help as do position during delivery.

    A nurse midwife, your PCP, or Ob/Gyn should be able to provide options prior to delivery.

  3. What helped me was: walking, massage, hot compress, sitting on a birth ball (it's like a big exercice ball), sitting in a jacuzzi with water jets. I was too lazy to learn hypnosys.

    Search the web, you will find plenty of advice and make sure that you have a knowledgable person with you during labor.
