  1. Here's a website with pool play forms for 4 & 5 team brackets plus lots of other goodies: http://www.gatewayvb.org/forms.htm#Tourn...

For playoff brackets (for darts, but good for vball too):

    Double Elim: http://www.crowsdarts.com/brackets/tourn...

    Single Elim: http://www.crowsdarts.com/brackets/playo...

    Pool Play Ranking:

Overall record will determine pool-play placing. In the case of ties in the overall record, a tie breaking procedure will be used.

It is relatively common to have 2 or 3 teams tied with the same record in pool play. Here is the tiebreaking procedure:

If 2 teams tie with the same pool-play record, the tiebreaker will be head-to-head competition.

If 3 teams tie with the same pool-play record here is hierarchy of tiebreakers:

    1.         The winning percentages of total sets played within that current pool are compared. (i.e., 5-3 would be first seed, 4-3 would be second seed, and 4-4 would be 3rd seed.) If all three teams had the same winning percentage, the #2 tiebreaker will be used.

    2.         The most favorable point differential in ALL sets played within that pool will be compared. If all three teams had the same point differential, the #3 tiebreaker will be used.

    3.         Blind draw to determine the highest-seeded team.

Important: If at any time during the #1, #2, or #3 tiebreakers, one team sets itself apart from the other two, the tie between the remaining two teams will be broken by the results of their head-to-head match.

  2. the usav rule book has all of the pool play combinations imaginable.

here is the basic 4 and 5 team matches.

    4 team:

    1vs 2  (3 works 4 sits)

    3vs4 (1 works 2 sits)

    2vs3 (4 works 1 sits)

    1vs4 ( 2 works 3 sits)

    1vs3 (4 works 2 sits)

    2vs4 ( 3works 1 sits)

top 3 make playoffs with the 1 seed( team with the most wins) working 1st round. Loser of round 1 works the finals

    5 team pool:

if you have 2 nets this is easier. If you dont have 2 nets then just play games listed on one net then the other:

    1vs2 court 1,  3vs 4 court 2, 5 works

    1vs3 ct1, 2vs5 ct2, 4 works

    2vs4 ct1, 1vs5 ct2, 3 works

    4 vs4 ct1, 2vs3 ct 2, 1 works

    3vs5 ct1, 1vs4 ct 2, 2 works

same top 3 make playoffs, 1 seed works 1st round, loser works finals.

If you have 1 net you can follow this same schedule playing ct 1, then cr2. Use the same work team for 2 games, it makes for a nice little lunch break for the work team.

Good Luck with your tourny, if you have any questions get the USAV rulebook it's $6 and can be purchased online at spike nashbar or any other vball store.
