  2. 1850 United States Federal Census

    Name: Amos Thomas

    Age: 55

    Estimated Birth Year: abt 1795

    Birth Place: Kentucky

Home in 1850(City,County,State): Buffalo, Pike, Missouri

Amos is listed as a "farmer" and his property's value is $3,100

    Amos Thomas 55

    Harrison Thomas 8

    James Thomas 11

    Jemima Thomas 51

    Margaret Thomas 14

    Sanders Thomas 13

Silas Thomas is a farmer who rents and is listed w/ his family directly below his father, Amos. Silas has a son and a daughter and his son is named "Silas", as well. (see below)

    1850 United States Federal Census

    Name: Silas Thomas

    Age: 27

    Estimated Birth Year: abt 1823

    Birth Place: Kentucky

Home in 1850(City,County,State): Buffalo, Pike, Missouri

    Amos Thomas 0

    Elizabeth Thomas 24

    Margaret Thomas 2

    Silas Thomas 27

I, also, located an 1850 Slave Schedules which lists an Amos Thomas in Buffalo, Pike, Missouri .  There is no further info. on this Amos Thomas to be able to ID him, but it could be the one you are searching.  But, if so, he owned 7 slaves at the time.

No names of the slaves are given, but based on the sexes and ages it may be a mother and her family.  3 of the 6 children are classified as mulatto and the other 3 as black. (see below)

    34 Female Black

    17 Male Black

    12 Male Mulatto

    10 Female Black

    7 Male Mulatto

    5 Male Mulatto

    1 Male Black

I think I found Jemima on the 1860 U.S. Census in the same location, but Amos is not listed.  So, possibly he dies between 1850 and 1860.
