My wife and I have recently adopted a beautiful child, and we would like to get together with other adoptive parents to discuss issues, tell stories, and basically talk.

  1. If you want an online support group, go to:

    http://dir.groups.yahoo.com/dir/Family__...

and join a group that fits your situation (where you adopted, how old your child was or whatever).

    You could also go to:

http://forums.adoption.com/ and see if you can connect with folks in your area.

Consider contacting your state child welfare office, they'll probably know of support groups in your area.  A link to find your state office is here:

    http://www.childwelfare.gov/pubs/reslist...

Just click on your state to find the contact info.

You might also look up Adoption and/or Foster Parent Associations in your state.  I know our state has one & they'd be able to get you connected.  You could Google your state name and "foster parent association" or "adoptive parent association" and come up with matches.  The Foster Parents Association will likely be able to point you to adoptive resources just because they're firmly entrenched & have a lot of information at their fingertips.

I hope this helps you get started at connecting with other adoptive families.  I don't know what I'd do without our group.  It's fantastic & gives me perspective, great info and support.

  2. You haven't mentioned where you are from but I would start at adoption.com. There are so many links from there, I'm sure you'll find something.
