Question:

Does anyone have some advice for a difficult nose piercing?

I got my right nostril pierced two and a half months ago. I had a small lump next to it for a while that oozed puss. It went away after I started putting hot compresses on it and lanced it with a sterile needle. Everything was cool after that. Until now. I decided that it was healed well enough, since it gave me no pain and I could remove and replace the s***w-style stud with ease, so I bought a new stud that I felt would sit flatter. It did. It was a nose bone (the kind with a bulb at the end). It got stuck. It caused me great pain trying to get it out, but I did and replaced the original jewelry. At this point, I noticed that the area around the piercing on the inside of my nostril was very tender and slightly swollen. I think it might have some puss in it, but I'm not sure. I'm planning on treating it with warm salt water and diluted tea tree oil. That is, until I can go in to see my piercer and/or doctor.

Any advice? Do you think the path I'm going on is a good idea, or is there something more intelligent I could be doing?

Thank you so much in advance for your answers, you are all very kind to help.

  1. just keep using saline if it's infected, which it sounds like it is, and maybe cool it on the tea tre oil because it might irritate it. you should also take the jewellery out. if you keep it in it'll probably cause scar tissue and make it difficult to re-pierce.

you may have also been allergic to to the new jewellery.

  2. keep the jewelry in, because it is acting like a drain for the piercing. visit your piercer as soon as you can, but til then, I would just do warm salt soaks, and also I wouldn't do the tea tree either. hope this helps :)

  3. smack that bratty ***** around.

    make it hot.
