Question:

Does anyone have statistics for coax power surges?

I've been trying to find an answer to this and all I find is controversy.

Is it necessary for coax to have a surge protector?

(I'm thinking cable-modem and/or HDTV in particular)

Why would I not need a surge protector for cable?

(Don't say because it's grounded - computers are grounded but you surge protect them)

Are there any statistics for why you should/should not have a coax surge protector?

  1. It is a safety precaution, lightening can come through coax and destroy your electronics. Most of the time it will not help against lighting only surges and coax have no surges because it is low voltage, all the information you can find on it is here:
