  1. Ok.... a lot of blabla!! I say go to Montelimar, its beach resort on the pacific ocean, from Managua I think its like 3 or 4 hours by car. Its amazing!

  2. Hola...I would suggest if you don't speak the language to atleast attempt to learn some of it. It shows respect to the locals if you are atleast trying to speak their language. It shows respect for them as a people and their culture as well. I have never been to Nicaragua but would one day love to go.  I would find out if there are any special vaccinations you need to get before traveling and also obviously get a passport if you don't have one yet. Also get something light and small that can be held close to your body to put your passport(or copy of your passport), money etc in while you are traveling.

here are some words/phrases that are good to know:

    hola-hello

buenos dias, buenas tardes, buenas noches-good morning, good afternoon, good night

    por favor-please

    perdon, disculpeme- excuse me

¿donde esta el baño? - where is the bathroom

¿Cuanto cuesta? ¿Cuanto sale? - how much is this, what does this cost is pretty much what you are asking there

    la cuenta - check(when at a restaurant)

¿Que hora es?- what time is it

    de nada- your welcome

Me llamo _________ <----your name there, or mi nombre es ______ two different ways to say my name is

Como esta(formal-shows more respect) Como estas(informal)- how are you. Depending where you are it is safer to use como esta because some people take offense if you use the formal form if you do not know them.

I could think of a million more but I think this will help you a little atleast.

also atleast TRY their food. It offends people in latin america very much if they cook you something and you will not even try it. Food is a big part of their culture- so keep an open mind and try new things. If you do not like it that's fine- be polite about it and they will be greatful you tried it.

p.s. one more thing not to be rude and correct you but Nicaragua is in Central America not South America.

Good luck with everything-sorry to write a novel.

    have fun...good luck-buena suerte
