I purchased prefinished hardwood floors in a matte finish..Honestly they did look shiny in the store, but once installed in my home lacked the shine I was looking for..any suggestions on how I could add shine?

  1. The correct way would be to refinish the floors. This means sanding, staining and sealing with a gloss finish.  The problem is most prefinished hardwood floors usually don't have enough material thickness to do all that. You could also try Murphy's Floor finish.  I have also seen floors finished in car wax.  These other suggestions may give you the shine you want but will also make the floor very slippery.  Given your options, other than replacing the whole floor, I would learn to just live with what I have.
