  1. well i don`t know what to do about it out side but inside you could say somewhere i look when I'm hungry.and the answer

    could be the fridge.

  2. There are a couple of versions:

    1) If you have a safe neighborhood (and understanding neighbors) give each team a list of things to get - a paperclip, a 1982 penny, a packet of sweetner, rubberband, dead battery, orange crayon.... random stuff found around the house.  Send each team w/ one adult and set a time limit - first team back w/ all, or team w/ most at end of time limit wins.

    2) Road rally on foot - set out a course, then write clues to get them from spot to spot.  It's best if you use the same clues but mix them up so the teams can't follow each other.  Ideas for clues: word searches, secret codes, pictures, even the old pirate " 3 giant steps" from a starting location.  You could get inexpensive compasses and have them search that way.

9 is a perfect age for this type of thing - have fun w/ it!

When I did letterboxing for my GS troop, I gave each team a color, so when they got to the next spot, they had to get their own color envelope.  I found that it's easiest to line up the boxes (label w intended destination and then fill them w/ clues back to front  - the last box gets the clue to come home, box 9 gets the clue to go to box 10, ect.  Going front to back was confusing to set up).

  3. my mom set up an Easter Egg scavenger hunt for my sis and I's kids for Easter this year. She went online and got the sayings, they were riddle like, the children had to figure out what items (outside) rymed with these sayings. (ex: Mailbox, swing..etc). When they figured out the clue and found the next clue, she had like a nickle with it. As they figured out more clues the money amount got higher. In the end everyone had some sort of money for finding clues.

    try googling scavenger hunt ideas..

  4. make it a pirate adventure! first make a map.cut it into a few pieces when they have all of it .they can put it together like a puzzle.then have a big treasure chest at the end full of your kid's fav snacks.

  5. My aunt does this every year for the birthday child to do on his/her own.  There always so much fun.  Heres some ideas:

Put the first clue in a big box and wrap it as his present.

Clue 1: "I am a rubber and in the shape of a donut"

Answer:  Car Tire:  There he can find his next clue

Clue 2:  (If you have a swimming pool)  "Lets take a dip"

Put the clue inside a ziplock bag and tie it to the step or side of pool, make sure you put a rock in the bag to hold it down.

I could give you lots of suggestions if you could tell me about your surroundings and neighbors that might participate in the hunt.  You can email me through answers and i will respond quickly.

  6. When I was little, we had the most fun asking neighbors for silly items. It got the neighbors involved, and they had a blast looking for silly things on our list. I would however put a limit on the amount of items received from each home, as we always cheated, got everything from the first home, and won!
