Does anyone have the hipod senator booster seat? (Aussie answers please)?

Just wondering what you think of it? It seems to be one of the only adjustable boosters available for kids under 14kg and with a 5-point harness. Does anyone know how it compares to the maxi-rider's?

My situation is that my baby has grown out of his capsule and I am putting him into my daughter's convertible seat which suits newborn up to 18kg. She only weighs 13kg so cannot go in a standard booster (and I'm not sure I want her in a lap sash belt for a couple more years anyway) I don't want to buy another up to 18kg seat that she will grow out of in less than a year, so a convertible booster seems to be the only option. I saw the hipod senator in the Target sale on special. So I guess I'm after reviews or comments from anyone who has one or is in or has been in a similar situation. Thanks.

  1. just a question what kg dose the five point harnees go to

  2. You can buy the harness seatbelt seperately that goes with the lap/sash belt so you can still use a booster and have the safety of the harness.  Target or Big W have them I used one for my son they work great and a cheaper option than another car seat

  3. I have one for my son and bought it for the same reason. My 2yr old was too big for his car seat but too small(and too risky) for a booster seat, he was 13kg when I bought the senator. I quite like it, best thing is my son can get in and out of it himself so no more lifting for me! The adjustable headrest/protector thing doesnt seem all that stable but i think its more to do with comfort then safety. There is one called 'secure veneto' or something similar from toys-r-us (and big w occasionally) for much the same price which I originally was going to get but they sold out so I got the senator from target instead. See if you can find that one and compare them both as they are slightly different. I would definitely recommend going with a 5pt safety harness convertable rather then a booster seat with lap belt only, a few dollars isnt worth your daughters safety. Thats why I bought the convertable one for my son.

I didnt bother looking at the maxi-riders because I wanted a carseat/boosterseat that had the built in 5point harness so cant compare sorry. Best of luck with choosing!
