  1. We adopted through Great Wall China Adoption (GWCA).  As you can tell by the name, they only handle Chinese adoptions.  They are based in Texas, but have local offices in many areas of the US (even Puerto Rico).  Our local contact was very helpful, and I was always able to get questions answered by people at the main office.  They will "hold your hand" from the beginning to the end of the adoption process, so it is very trouble free.  We liked them enough to go through them for our second adoption as well.  Here is their website:  http://www.gwca.org/

I have heard good things about Holt international, they have a long track record of foreign adoption.  If we decide to do a third adoption, it will probably be from a country other than China, so we will probably go through Holt.  http://www.holtintl.org/flash/index.shtm...

    Good luck!

  2. We used Interational Christian Adoptions  http://www.4achild.com/ they do both foreign and domestic. I believe they work with Russia, Guatemala, India, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Peru, Phillipines and China I believe. Their website also shows you what each country's requirements are for adoptive families and what kind of travel to the country is required if any. I think they also have a general fee schedule for each of their programs listed on the site.

We have some friends that adopted a sibling group from Russia and they used Nightlight adoptions http://www.nightlight.org/. I don't know anything about this agency other than the fact that our friends used them, I just thought I'd list it as another resource.

I hope you find this information helpful!!!

  4. My wife and I adopted both my son and daughter in Germany back in 1984 and 1986. We went thru "International Sozial Dienst) International Social Sevices Office located in Frankfurt Germany. I do not have a phone number, sorry. But you may try calling information. Good Luck.

  5. best one I've used is www.kidstoadopt.org  phone numbers and more info are on their web.  They are wonderful and actually care about kids finding families!!!  I was also with one agency that took my money and 4 years later-still no child.  So be careful!  Sheri

  6. We used Children's Home Society & Family Services of Minnesota, although we do not live in MN.  We had an excellent experience adopting from China through them.  They have a great deal of experience in international adoption and provided terrific support, information, and assistance.  We traveled to China with a group of nine other families to complete the adoption, and that was great too.  They had workers in Beijing and in the provinces to help us through the process too, which was terrific to have.

  7. We adopted through Children's Hope International

You asked about our experience.  It was absolutely all positive.  They were very responsive, knowledgeable, helpful and terrific.  Their staff here was great as was their in-country staff.  I'd have no misgivings about using them again to adopt.  We have two wonderful daughters & our facilitator almost feels like a member of the family.

We work closely with Lifeline Adoption

And I've heard good things about Commonwealth, also

The best way to choose an agency, imho, is to narrow it down to about five and call them to interview them (ask them questions that are important to you & get a feel for how they treat their clients and how responsive they are.  Ask them for references & call the refs (ask about their experience, ask if there's anything they'd change about their experience with the agency, ask for their positive & negative feedback & if they'd use them again if they adopted another time).  Then go online and find others who've used that agency who aren't on the reference list & ask them the same questions.  Finally check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are complaints & how/if those complaints were resolved.

Go with your gut...if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

  8. My wife and I have friends who adopted through European Adoption Consultants http://www.eaci.com/

I have also heard good things about Children of the World http://www.childrenoftheworldnet.com/

    Good luck!

  9. Adoptions from the Heart.  www.adoptionsfromtheheart.org.  We used them for a domestic (within US) adoption, however, several friends of ours have used them for international adoption, and we all highly recommend the agency.

    Good luck to you.
