Does anyone have the problem of their outboard water outlet freezing up in the winter?

how do you melt the ice or prevent it all together?

If you leave the motor on the boat, leave it in the upright position and the water should drain out. One other thing you should do, put the motor in gear and turn the prop by hand and that will force the water out of the water pump. Cover it with a tarp, not plastic, plastic will make it sweat. When I say upright, I mean just like it would be if you were under way.
