Does anyone have tips on how to keep a maltese nice and groomed?

See I just got a maltese and I feel it's face is getting darker and I am doing bathing once a day.And I don't know if I am supposed to cut it's hair between it's paws?He needs his last set of shots before I dare to take him to get groomed.Please give me tips on all of the stuff I should do.Thank you .I appreciate this.

You shouldn't bathe your puppy more than every two or more weeks. You should brush your puppies hair every day to prevent matting. Do not cut the hair between it's paws.

Don't bathe your dog everyday as it can dry out the skin and draw out natural oils.

Don't cut your dog in any way shape or form especially between the feet as you could cut the paw/toes.When the dog is fully vaccinated, then you need to take the dog to the groomers at least once a month, maybe once every two months depending on the dog's hair growth.

Do brush your dog at least 5 minutes everyday to prevent matting which could be very uncomfortable for the dog.

Do bathe your dog once or  twice a month.

Bathing every day is way way too often. You will end up drying out his skin. Bathing a dog should be done no more than every two weeks.

With that breed, you need to make sure to dry him and comb out all the tangles after the bath, or they will just get worse and worse.

You will need to brush and comb his coat at least a couple times a week to prevent matting. This is the MOST important thing in keeping your maltese's coat in good shape.

I wouldn't cut the hair between the paws, because you can easily cut his foot pads if you don't know the proper technique. (And most groomers will use clippers to shave the foot pads, not scissors, because of the risk of cutting the pads).

If the face is getting darker due to tear stains, there is so much you can do. You can wipe them with a damp cotton ball each day, and try tear stain products that are designed to reduce this, such as Angel Eyes. When the hair at the corner of the eyes is stained, all you can do is cut the hair there--I recommend you don't do this yourself, just when he is at the groomers.

at the pet store or petco, they sell stuff called angel eyes that helps get tear stains off his face.

and never give your dog a bath everyday, it drys out there natural oils.

they should have a bath like once a month.

oh i have a maltese too! just make sure you brush him a lot! don't give him a bath everyday but his face a lot! don't cut the hair between his paws though just trim his feet.
