How long have you been doing this commute and how have you been handling it? Are the trains on time for the most part? I will be starting a new job and commuting from the Ronkonkoma line. I am guessing it will take about 2 hours each way. Just trying to get a guage on what to expect and how others handle the long commute. Thanks.

  1. I commute from out there (live in Bohemia, commute from Sayville station, work on 8th ave at 58th)

The commute is not that bad you get used to it after a few weeks. Just buy a paper or read a book and the time goes by quick. It definitely doesn't seem as long as it is.

If it is not too far from your house I would recommend taking the Montauk Branch (Sayville)instead of Ronk. The trains are much less crowded and "usually" come on time. There are a few express trains that do the trip in about an hour and a half.

The Ronk trains are always packed and you cant always get a seat. The parking lot also fills up by 7 and people start parking anywhere

Feel free to drop me an email if you have any further questions regarding the commute. My email link is on my profile.
