  1. I use an HT projector and a 110" screen along with a surround sound system for watching movies and HDTV (It's too big for SDTV!).

It's the only way -- in my opinion -- to watch movies if you like to approximate the movie theatre experience.  It's also a great way to watch special TV events (sports, concerts, etc) with a group of friends.

You get a picture at least 2x as big for the same price. A 100"-120" 1080p setup is about $2500 with screen.

You do need to be aware that the picture is best in a dim/dark room (curtains work fine) and that lamps need to be replaced every 3 years or so (depending on use).  I recommend a normal TV for things like the news and SD programs since it's not recommended to start up and shut down a projector on a quick on-off cycle.

But overall, we wouldn't go back to a "small" screen (i.e. 50"-60") by choice. Best bang for the buck and all too few people even consider it.
