  1. I'm from the US, but I just wanted to say that apple cider here is not carbonated apple juice, it's made from compressing apples in a process different to making regular apple juice. It contains juice from the core, which gives a more tart flavor then apple juice, and it's also served hot. Just wanted to clear that up for you...But I'll throw in an opinion on the differences of the wine and cider: I think alcoholic cider is made with the same process as non-alcoholic cider, just with alcohol added to it and that the wine is made from fermented apple juice...Just a guess that Google gave me...

  2. Apple wine is, typically, twice as strong.  It has no effervescence, whereas cider usually does.

  3. Apple wine is what Americans call the alcoholic stuff.

  4. Wine has fermented and apple juice hasn't.

  5. Apple wine is fermented apple juice usually.  Apple Cider is crushed apple with no additives if made correctly.

Wine you usually add water.  Cider is just pressed fruit as is perry.  With real cider there is no yeast added because it's already in there.  With wine you would add yeast and the making is different.  Wine is usually fermented in demi johns and Cider is just chucked into a vat and left.
