Does anyone here play THE SETTLERS OF CATAN? It's a board game invented in Germany...?

It's a bit like RISK, and it has some elements from Monopoly -- "Development cards" play the same function as the "Community Chest" cards, and the more you build on a certain area, the more resources you get to build with.

The board is unique -- it consists of small hexagonal pieces which must be rearranged for every game.

  2. Yes, it is a good game and quite popular. The basic game has been used as the inspiration for dozens of expansions and variants but your description is misleading. There is a die but it is not used to settle dispute as Risk. The developement cards are nothing like Monopoly's Community Chest cards. The modular gameboard has been used before is games such as Kings and Things by Mayfair twenty years ago.

  3. Before I moved to Texas, I used to play every week with some of my friends.
