  1. 1979 Daytona 500. I was 11 years old. My dads friend just left his wife(and a huge 3 story house) and my parents and I went to his new apartment. They BBQ'd and put me on the couch in front of the TV. I watched the whole thing.

I remember because that's the day that changed my life!

  2. Dang girl i was not born yet i know that...... lol

iam guessing Daytona 500...... either in the 1940's or i will say 1955

i wont to say..... ralph earnhardt won..... but that is just a guess i have no clue.... my dad prob told me but i forgot .....

  3. it was the 1979 daytona 500, the one that featured 'the fight'

    richard petty won

EDIT : the race that first answerer mentioned was not brodcast LIVE, it was taped. the '79 daytona 500 was the first NASCAR race ever brodcast live flag to flag

  4. MIke P has it right.

The question asks which one was broadcast from start to finish, not "live", so a taped event would still be right.

  5. The first race shown in its ENTIRETY on a major network was the 1979 Daytona 500, on CBS here in the US, that's the race that ended with the brawl between Cale Yarbourough and the Allison brothers. Richard Petty won the race.

  6. Year: 1971

    Track: Greensville Pickens

    Winner: Bobby Isaac

    EDIT!:

ABC's Wide World of Sports, the famous sports anthology program, provided coverage of select NASCAR Winston Cup Series races in the 1970s. In 1971, it presented a 200-lap race at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in its entirety, the first such broadcast of a NASCAR race.

The 1979 Daytona 500 was the first 500-mile race to be broadcast live on national television.

  7. 1979 Daytona 500  Richard Petty
