I am considering becoming a collection agent for the provident. ( need part time work that has flexable hours to work round partners shifts and my wee boy) i've looked into it and on the whole looks ok, but some people have said it doesnt pay to well and others say it can be dangerous.

Does anyone work as an Agent or know someone who does i want all the info i can get before going ahead.

Thanks in advance x

  1. Remember that you will be going alone to houses to collect money. If it is a bad area you will probably become known as the provi lady and this might leave you open to attack from someone looking for cash.

If you do decide to go ahead, always leave a note of where you are going and what time you expect to return.

  2. From the dangerous aspect I Have heard of people that have been robbed in the past,  Obviously this is due to the possibility of carrying a large sum of money around.    My advice is just to be careful and make sure someone knows where you are at all time.  I know this probably makes it out to be really bad job but it is just a matter of looking out for yourself.  I don't know about the pay aspect but its just what I know from others.   Good Luck

  3. I knew a woman who was once a collection agent and she never felt safe so packed it in after a few weeks. Especially with you having your son to think about, I would advise another career path for you to consider. People get to know who you are and why you are in the area. Most areas are very deprived (the main reason they need to take out a loan in the first place) and you could be targeted by gangs etc. There are loads of other (safer) jobs you could do like cleaning, bar work etc. Good luck!
