Does anyone in the media understand the difference between "elite" and "elitist?"?

Here we go again with "who is more of an elitist" based soley on how much money they have. Elitist = someone who believes in rule by an elite group or person. Elite = someone with superior status. There is no inevitable relationship between the two. We've all known elites who are not elitist and elitists who are not elite. After several months of discussion on the subject I've yet to see a single media type explain the difference.

  1. SAVE IT FOR GRADE  SCHOOL KID BECAUSE I AM NOT HERE FOR ANY COURSE ON  ENGLISH .

WE DON'T NEED A GOOD  SOLDIER RUNNING THIS COUNTRY WE NEED A TRUE LEADER LIKE BARRAK OBAMA 2008. LOL

  2. Do you honestly think that you're going to get such a distinction made by the liberal media ELITISTS???  They're not going to do that, because that would make them sound like hypocrites... no wait.... they already DO sound like hypocrites... no wait... they ARE hypocrites!

    Have a right-wing day.

  3. Face it, the McCain's are successful and guess what? -- So are the Obamas - they made over 4 million dollars last year.

Last time I checked, success and wealth were good things.  Now we want to have an argument over how rich rich is?  Is McCain jet rich but Obama is only yacht rich?

Please, let's have a good real estate discussion about the candidates so that the voters can really understand what happened.

A few months after Obama became a U.S. senator, he and Rezko's wife, Rita, bought adjacent pieces of property from a doctor in Chicago's Kenwood neighborhood -- a deal that has dogged Obama the last two years. The doctor sold the mansion to Obama for $1.65 million -- $300,000 below the asking price. Rezko's wife paid full price -- $625,000 -- for the adjacent vacant lot. The deals closed in June 2005. Six months later, Obama paid Rezko's wife $104,500 for a strip of her land, so he could have a bigger yard. At the time, it had been widely reported that Tony Rezko was under federal investigation. Questioned later about the timing of the Rezko deal, Obama called it "boneheaded" because people might think the Rezkos had done him a favor.

    Ya think???

You can talk about hope and change all you want - but how do you Obama supporters explain his (extremely) bad luck in judging people he associates with?

  4. I believe that they've been using the term Elitist as you well described

"Elitist = someone who believes in rule by an elite group or person"

and with that attempt to separate Obama from the average United Statesian.

I doubt that anybody has said that Obama is in fact part of the Elite, if anything it could be argued that the Bushs are or have been part of it.

  5. I'm waiting for them to ask McCain how many cars he owns so he can tell the reporter to ask his staff, while most Americans struggle to pay for their cars and all of the gas they need.

  6. Short answer: No. They know practically nothing on their own. Their function is apparently just to edit strings of words to fit into allotted periods of time or spaces on pieces of paper.

  7. Good eye for the details.  I doubt if we will hear them differentiate the difference because I doubt many know there is any difference.
