Does anyone know, or know how to find out, how far collection agencies can go to get their money.?

I live in New Brunswick, Canada. And I really need to find this out! HELP!

They can take as much as you let them.  If it is getting to the point where you are going hungry or similar conditions, you can file a hardship form with the IRS and they will stop hounding you so much.

They can take you to court and sue you.It just happened to my daughter and son in law.

they will call you at home, they will call you and harass you at work, they will threaten you and be very rude to you and they will eventually sue you and bring you to court.

They will harass the heck out of you.  They can also get a court order, (depending on the type of debt) to withhold up to 25% of your pay.  They have to notify you first of course that they intend to do that.  Alot of times, I have found that they eventually leave you alone but it reflects on your credit report badly.  Good luck!!  Hope this helped.
