Does anyone know Gotham or Long Eaton in Nottinghamshire?

I have a job in Nottingham starting in September and am trying to find a nice place to live. West Bridgford is probably winning in the close-to-the-city competition, but Long Eaton is also in the running. I'm also interested in looking at some more village-y places. Any suggestions?

  1. Gotham??

  2. West Bridgford is nice, but it's expensive. Are you working in the City Centre? There's a lot of nice villages around Nottingham, Radcliffe on Trent, Bingham, Kinoulton, East Bridgford. If you're earning well, try the Park, it's a village in the city centre, and it's very nice.

  3. West Bridgford normally gets the thumbs up from most as the best all-round area to live. (There are some quiet areas, but still with easy access to all that is going on in the town centre - ie. cricket, football, the river). Over the last couple of years there seems to have been an explosion of bars / resturants with outside seating in the centre of West Bridgford, giving it a kind of 'pavement-cafe' feel when the sun decides to shine.

It's very quick to get from Bridgford to the city centre, whereas it always seems to take forever to get out to Long Eaton, especially when the traffic is bad. Having said that, I think Long Eaton is one of the areas that they will be extending the tram system to - Maybe worth checking out, although that will be a couple of years down the road I expect.

West Bridgford is quite expensive though.

As for the villages; I quite like Keyworth. Much qieter than West Bridgford, but worth looking at.
