Okay, so 6 days ago I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled out: 2 on the top, and 2 on the bottom. My wisdom teeth had not grown in yet, they were still in my gums. The extraction and the recovery up to this point had gone extremely well. Then about 15 minutes ago, I was eating ice cream and with my tongue felt a hard thing where my tooth used to be on the bottom of my mouth. I looked in the mirror and saw this little cluster of yellow/clearish looking lines. What could this be? I have only eaten soft foods since the extraction, so it's not food. I swished my mouth with water many times. It hurt when I touched it with my tongue, but it doesn't really hurt anymore. I heard that you could get "bone slivers" after your extraction but I don't really know what that is or how to fix it? Please help me. I will call the oral surgeon tomorrow morning but can someone tell me what it might be and what to do about it in the mean time?

  1. Prabably just scabs from the extraction site. Usually they are soft because they are in a moist environment but sometimes they can be a little hard. it may be a bone sliver working its way out and if you can see it then you can try to take it out. It shouldnt hurt too much and it will save you a trip to the dentist. But if it hurts a lot and you are concerened then go ahead and call the dentist and maybe go in and have it checked out.
