If you truly consider yourself a burger connoisseur, then you no doubt have In-N-Out at the top of your list. This West Coast icon has made itself the favorite fast food locale for true burger lovers. The majority of their customers would say its because they consistently keep it fast, fresh and simple.

But thats only what they want you to think. The truth is, their menu options are much more extensive than the four basic items listed: hamburger, cheeseburger, double-double and fries. But only the people who know about the secret menu have the luxury of ordering from this larger and much more diverse list of options. All of these secret items are variations on their original menu, but ordered in a specific way to result in something not so ordinary.

In-N-Outs website lists a few of these verbal-only specialties in a folder labeled secret menu, but its only a portion of the possibilities. We've compiled a complete list of menu choices for your next visit so you will be ready, confident and ordering like the professional burger enthusiast you are.

Double Meat: A double-double without cheese.

3 X 3: Three meat patties and three slice of cheese.

4 X 4: Four meat patties and four slices of cheese.

*Note: You can order any number of meat patties by any number of slices of cheese. For example, a 6 X 3 would give you a six meat patty burger with only three slices of cheese.

Grilled Cheese: All the fixings without the meat.

Protein Style: For those carb counters, a burger with all the fixings but wrapped in lettuce leaves rather than on a bun.

Animal Style: The meat is cooked with mustard, grilled onions, secret sauce and pickles (Highly recommended but extremely messy).

Flying Dutchman: Two patties of meat with two slices of cheese, nothing else.

    Well Done Fries: Extra crispy.

Light Fries: Under cooked and a little soggy.

Animal Style Fries: A regular order of fries but topped with cheese, secret sauce, grilled onions and pickles (you have to specifically ask for the pickles).

Veggie Burger: (aka Wish Burger but not at all locations) No meat and no cheese.

Vanilla/Chocolate Swirl Milkshake: Or any combination of your two favorite flavors mixed together.

Neapolitan Shake: A mixture of all three flavors: Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.

If you still have doubts that this is an everyday occurrence for the employees of In-N-Out, check out your receipt when you leave. It should have your secret menu item printed on it, just as you order it.
