Question:

Does anyone know a CHEAP place (for 3) to stay right in AKIHABARA for a week? (and Waseda on first night)?

Budget is below (lower would be much better) 5000 yen (if possible) per night . Shared bathroom is fine, but not capsule inn. I plan to buy a laptop and a digicam therefore I was thinking of staying somewhere in Akihabara so I won't need to take the train. My 2 companions and I can share a room, so dormitory would be fine (but hopefully max 3?).

It would also be great if anyone can suggest a place to stay near Waseda for a night.

Thanks so much, would really appreciate this.

  1. This hotel is a bit above your budget (about 7000pp/night), but Ochanomizu is just a 5-10 minute walk to Akihabara.  Ochanomizu is serviced by the Sobu line (1 stop from Akihabara if you don't want to walk), Chuo Line, and Chiyoda line.

    Good luck.

  2. It is not possible for one to pay 5000yen to get a private room. Even Ahkihabara capsule inn charges 3000-4000yen per person. You may want to try finding a more affordable inn or hostel at Ueno, Nihonbashi or Okachimachi which are places which are near to Ahkihabara, probably walking distance of 15-30min. Do expect to pay about 18000-20000yen for a triple room or minimum 9000yen for a double room.

  3. Your budget is too low. In Japan It is not charged by room but person.

Price of Yen5000 for one night stay means per person not per room.

Even dormitory, Yen1667/night per person is out of reality in Tokyo.
