Does anyone know a NASCAR driver personally?

by that i do not mean saw them in real life, or had a picture taken with them, i mean actually knowing them...

If yes, what are they like...?

My dad was actually friends with Davey Allison in the early 80's.  I was to young to remember meeting him but they had a house real close to ours and they may have gone to school together in Bessemer as early teens but i dont know the whole story for sure and unfortunately my dad is now deceased so ill probably never know.

Most people who would actually "know" a NASCAR driver probably would not admit to it publically here on a forum like Yahoo Answers. Generally friends of high profile people are pretty guarded about those friendships and respect the privacy of that individual or individuals and would never do a "tell all" on a public forum.

I hung out at Ed Kosiski's garage one day. I don't think he ever raced in the top three series, but he was the Dodge Weekly Racing champion in 1998 I believe (which is still a very big deal). He owns I-80 Speedway too. We bought some karting stuff from him and checked out his late models.

I have a friend who works at JGR.  So Denny, Tony, and Kyle are really great guys, despite what people claim about them being hot heads.  Matt Kenseth raced in my hometown, great guy.  Paul Menard raced here as well, smart boy, but can't race worth all the money in his daddy's bank account.  Johnny Sauter's brother lives here as well.

The late Bobby Hamilton and Bobby Jr.,  Casey Atwood, Sterling Marlin, Chase Montgomery, and Jeff Green. Don't see or talk with them much, though.  I hung out with Bobby Jr. and Jimmie Johnson for a few hours in Lebanon, Tn. one night before a Busch race (when Jimmie drove full time in the Excedrin car) in Nashville.  It's funny because Jimmie talked about how he might be lucky to ever get a good shot in a Cup ride.  He had no idea what a shot he would get!

yeah.  Kurt Busch and wife Eva have family where I live and he comes over all the time to go ATV riding, fishing,  and just hanging out.  He is such a nice guy.  Went to their wedding.  Only 15 minutes from my home.  Also got to meet his brother Kyle, Rodger Penske, Helio Castroneves.

My son is 12 and has a best friend always at my house.  Best friends' daddy grew up with Martin Truex Jr and they still are good friends and go fishing together.  They invited my boy along next time MTJr. comes up.  

I met Dale Sr and I have a lot of autographs from others but no driver that I really know personally.

I know a few crew guys though.

For example, one guy I work with used be Clint Bowyer's tire changer and knows him really well.  If Clint lived closer, I'd probably get to meet him.
