Does anyone know a Really Good air conditioner brand..?

I bought a Danby air conditioner the other day.. ithought it would be good. It does coool off the rooom but not as good as i thought it would for the price.. Any suggestions, with Prices

Carrier is the brand I always recommend for central air systems or Sanyo for portable or window units, but your problem does not sound like a brand problem.  Your unit is most likely under sized.  You need to know the load of the space you are trying to cool then buy a unit large enough to cool it.  The units have BTUH ratings and that capacity is what you need to determine.  This problem has nothing to do with the brand.

you probably didn't get one with enough btu's to cool off the size room you put it in.

the smallest ones you can buy are usually around 5,000 btu's and can be bought for under $100.00 dollars. that might cool an 8 x 10 foot room but most rooms are larger than that.  you might consider a 7'500 btu or larger say up to 10,000 btu's.    the more btu's the more money they cost.  most of the 5,000 btu units are foreign made (the name you give indicates that it might be foreign)  that being said we just bought a Frigidaire 10,000 btu unit and it was made in CHINA.

cost $200.00.  most units today also are remote controlled so you don't even have to leave your arm chair or bed to operate them.  Frigidaire was once a great American name, but i believe they sold their name for the all-mighty dollar.

if yours is cooling, don't blame the air-conditioner but blame the size of the btu's.

forget brand names,one doesn't do better or last longer than another,but you need capacity ,if you have a small room with little or no sunlight ,then 8000 ought to be too much,but if you leave the door open,try to cool the whole house,you will need a bigger one..........tom
