Its in good condition, the guy bought the gun in the late 1980s or easry 90s. He said it fired less than 50 rounds through it, and wants to see it. He told me to make him an offer that is reasonable... but Im not sure what is a reasonable price for a good condition, Winchester 30-30 wooden stock , bolt action rifle.

Anyone know? I was gonna offer him $150 or $200 at most. thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Find the actual model number, then go on a couple of gun auction sites and see what the average sale price is.

.30-30 is a fine deer cartridge.

  2. The only bolt action 30-30s I know of were made by Savage and Remington

Are you sure that you aren't confusing the name of the round 30-30 Winchester with the name of the gun, it's a common mistake

The round itself has taken more deer than any other in North America

  3. Huh??? The Winchester 1894 .30-30 is a lever-action rifle.  Off the top of my head I can't think of any Winchester model chambered in .30-30 other than the 1894 Lever-action.

Offer him $150 or $200.  Might be worth more but it is impossible to appraise a firearm without seeing.  The 1894 Winchester commands some collector's interest especially now that it isn't being made anymore.  Rumor is it won't be made in the USA anymore.

If it is something other than the lever-action model offer him $100 or $150.

    Good luck.

  4. I bought a bolt action Stevens-Savage 340 with a scope mounted for 175.00 several years ago.  30-30 is a very good deer cartridge btw.  Depending on condition; and the one you describe sounds very sharp; anywhere from 150 to 300 is about the going price range.

  5. Hey, Im the guy you tried to ask me this question on my question. Srry, I couldn't figure out how to add any additional info. But to your question, I must say that  a bolt action 30-30 is rare and I dont no why it was made. Around $150-$200 sounds good to me. If I was going to sell mine I would sell it for about that. Last thing. I dont know if you have heard about these new 30-30 bullets mad e by Hornady. They are called Lever Evolution and they are great. They are, as far as I know, the only pointed tipped 30-30 bullet avaible. This is possible because the tip is made of gel so for normal 30-30 lever actions with a tuibe mag, it will not denonate the bullet in front of it. These bullets are much better than any other ammo you can get for the 30-30 and it doesnt cost that much( $20 for 20). Hope this helps.

  6. Firearms do not depreciate like a car does.  I feel that $400.00 would be a reasonable offer - although, I would expect to pay more.

All these people who are telling you that a reasonable offer for a Model 70 is a hundred bucks are nuts.

  7. he probably paid $120.00-$150.00 for it new plus scope (if any) minus wear, age, and use wouldnt start at more than 150

30-30s a pretty small caliber close range, no more than 150 or so

  8. The .30-30 is a good deer gun in the right situation. It is good for relatively short ranges, up to about 150 yards or so. Here in the northeast its pretty rare to get a shot at more than 50-100 yards so a .30-30 is great for this area. In the western states, where 200-300 yard shots are common, I would get something considerably more powerful.

  9. about 160$ sounds right on.

Dude, Winchester 94 30-30 is the 65 GTO of rifles.

Make sure you use Hornaday LeveRevolution bullets .

I have a collection of them.

  10. The 30-30 is an excellent Deer rifle. It would help more if you could positively identify the Brand and the Model number.* I don't believe Winchester made a Model 94 in a bolt action rifle. To give you an accurate answer I need the Brand and Model number of the Rifle.*
