  1. i'm not great with chess notation, but there IS a four move checkmate- it doesn't always work, depending on your opponent's opening moves, but it makes a nice opening, even if it doesn't go where you want it.

    1) your king's pawn to king's 3 or 4 (4 opens you up more nicely)

    2) your queen to king's bishop 3

    3) your king's bishop to queen's bishop 4 (it now covers your opponent's king's bishop 2)

2 and 3 can be exchanged, done in either order

    4) your queen to opponent's king's bishop 2.

that puts your opponent's king in checkmate unless they have moved something that free's the king to escape, or moved a piece to threaten their KB2 (thus taking your queen), or somehow stopped your queen or king's bishop from threatening their KB2...

it sounds complicated as i tell it, but try it out on your own and see how it looks, as well as seeing ways to thwart it! it's a lot of fun against unsuspecting opponents!

  2. Google "fool's Mate" and "Scholar's Mate."
