  1. You did not say where you are in NY, but there are some day cruises available in NYC around Manhattan and elsewhere (the peer is on the Hudson, at the west end of 42nd St.  The cruises only last 3 hours, but there are other amusements for young adults in the big city.

  2. There are some things that you need to know about cruising.  First, all cabins on all cruise ships are sold based on double occupancy. That means that two persons must go or they will charge the one person what is called a "single supplement". The supplement is basically just about a double cruise fare, same as if two people were going. So unless you have a lot or money to spend you cannot go alone.

Second, all of the cruise lines except Carnival require that at least one (1) person in each cabin be age 21 or older. Carnival requires that at least one person be at least age 25. So unless you are age 21 or older you cannot even book a cruise unless you have a parent, guardian or friend who is over age 21 to go along in your cabin.  If you are going with your friends you'll need a parent or someone who is at least age 21 to book and room with you.

Third, if you are under age 21 and traveling with someone other than a parent you MUST have a statement signed by your parents granting you permission to go on the cruise. The cruise line will tell you exactly how the permission letter must be prepared.

So you have three things to consider and plan for if you want to go on a cruise. Maybe you should try to get mom, dad, or an aunt or uncle to go with you. Tell them how much fun they will have too.

Now if you want some really low priced cruises here's a link to some one and two day cruises out of NY City:

  3. You can't go on most cruise lines without being 21 or older. If you're younger than 21, you must be with somebody who is 21 years of age or older, and have your parent or guardian write a letter giving you permission to go.  Like tinkertoy said, if you don't have anybody going with you at least 21 years old, try getting someone who is at least 21 to go with you. You don't have to spend any time with them at all if you don't want to.

Norwegian Cruise Line has some really good deals on weekend cruises:

This one is on the Norwegian Dawn, leaving from New York City on April 30, 2009 and you disembark on May 1, 2009. The cheapest inside is $149 per person for the cheapest inside cabin:

This one is on the Norwegian Gem, leaving from NYC on January 3, 2009, January 44, 2009, January 2, 2010,  and January 23, 2010, all one day & one night (get off the ship the next day). the cheapest inside cabin is $179 for the cheapest inside.

This one is on the Norwegian Pearl, leaving from Seattle & returning at Vancouver. It leaves on September 20, 2009 and returns the next day. The cheapest cabin is $79 for the cheapest inside cabin.

This one is on the Norwegian Spirit, leaving from NYC on September 6, 13, 20, and 27 of this year, all returning the following day. The cheapest inside is $159. There's also two cruises the same that I said above, on the Spirit, leaving from NYC but they're $179 for the cheapest inside and leave on October 4 and 11(returning the next day) of this year.

This one is on the Norwegian Star, leaving from Seattle, returning in Vancouver on September 20, 2008 and September 19, 2009(returning the follow day). the cheapest inside cabin is $69.

This cruise actually stops somewhere other than just being at sea. It is on the Norwegian Jewel, leaving from Miami, FL on November 13, 2009 returning on November 15, 2009. The first full day is a stop at Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. the cheapest inside cabin is $199 per person:

This cruise is the exact same as above, except it's leaving on October 10, returning on October 12, 2008. It's the same price, $199 except is on the Norwegian Pearl.

This cruise is on the Norwegian Pearl leaving in Vancouver, returning to Seattle. You leave on May 8, and return on May 10, 2009. The cheapest inside cabin is $179.

Each of the prices that I gave you are listed in what's known as "double occupancy". What this means is that they're assuming that there's going to be 2 people in each cabin. If there's two, each person would have to pay the price listed.  If there's three people per cabin, the first two people would have to pay the price listed, and the third, depending on the exact cruise, would have to pay about half of the listed price. Same if you have a fourth person, that fourth person would have to pay about half, it's normally less than half though.  you can't have more than 4 people per stateroom.

Hope this helps & good luck!! (:

  4. There is one 3 day weekend cruise leaving Manhattan on the Holland America Eurodam on 8/29. It doesn't go anywhere, just out to sea and back. It's sold out - you will have to put on a waitinng list. Otherwise, there are 4 day cruises to St. John New Burnswick and 5 day cruises to Bermuda.
