  1. It all depends on the shape of your foot. For wide feet Jacksons work and are the ones that I wear, and I would never go to another brand. I use Jackson ultima 3500, and have had no problems with them. One pair I had actually the wooden part of my boot came apart from my skate (it's my fault with how I was picking) and they sent a free pair of skates to me free of charge so it's a plus they have great customer service ;)

Rydell Also would work for wide feet, I personally have never owned any but I tried them on so it's worth a shot. However, they are made with cork which of course is not as sturdy as wood so they are prone to water damage.

Gam are also good skates, im pretty sure they are feet generally for "normal" feet. My brother had a pair back when he skated and they worked fine.

Grafs are apparently really good skates and comparable to Jacksons. Quiet a few of the top level skaters wear them and if you get a certain one (Edmontons I beilieve) you can put rhinestones on the back.

Of course you may not be able to have any skates fit you perfectly and if that is the case you need to special order.

  2. What type of figure skating are you planning to do? Riedell makes good skates for the beginning level all the way up to the advanced skaters. If you are a beginning skater I'd suggest going with a Riedell Blue Ribbon, they are good quality, fairly easy to break in, and they are very comfortable. I'd suggest going to your local pro shop to be sized for skates because nothing is worse than a bad fitting skate.
