Does anyone know a good call forwarding service for a relocated business?

I have recently relocated my business from new york to philadelphia. We had to get new numbers for our company here, and it is costing me $100.00 a month (with verizon) to have the phone calls to my old number forwarded to my new number. Does anyone have any recommendations for something cheaper? This is for a business so it has to be efficient. I appreciate your help. Thanks.

  1. Here is one possible option:

Talk to a VoIP service provider, like CallCentric or InPhonex, that support LNP - Local Number Portability.

Talk to them about having your old business numbers "Ported" to their VoIP services.

If Verizon cooperates with the VoIP services and allows the numbers to be ported, then proceed as follows:

(NOTE 1:  You will not actually need any VoIP equipment to use their VoIP service for call forwarding)

(Note 2:  Phone numbers used with VoIP services, or once ported to a VoIP service are the referred to as DID's - direct inbound dialing numbers)

1 - Configure your VoIP account, for each DID,  to forward the number(s) to your new phone number(s) in Philadelphia.

That's it.  Nothing else to do.

The cost is actually quite minimal.

If CallCentric or InPhonex can't port the numbers for you, try talking with Voip.ms and Les.net, too.  If these companies can't port the numbers, then I expect the numbers just aren't port-able.
