My daughter is doing a competition dance with a partner (they will be in the 15 yr. old age group) and we are looking for a song for a contemporary dance that is not about love. Does anyone have any good ideas? We are open for anything. Thanks!

  1. I'm currently doing a contemporary/hiphop routine to "crazy" by Gnarls Barkley, which is pretty fun. I don't know what exact kind of music you're looking for, but here's a random sampling of non-love-songs that I like to choreograph dances to in my head (or sometimes not in my head):

If That Were Me - Melanie C

How To Save a Life - The Fray

    The Call - Regina Spektor

One of Us - Joan Osborne (ignore the first 15 seconds of the song)

    Apologize - Timbaland

    Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve

Uninvited - Alanis Morisette (well this one is sort of about... non-love, but not mushy)

    Seasons of Love - Rent

I Hope You Dance - Lee Ann Womack

I Can Only Imagine - Mercy Me (religious)

    Mad World - Gary Jules

The Children of Eve - Linda Eder

    Coalwood - October Sky (instrumental)

Prayer of the Children - Kurt Bestor

    Ramalama - Roisin Murphy

Sonata for Petra - George Sarah (instrumental)

    Shine - Operatica

Walking in the Air - Chloe Agnew

This one is kind of about love but it's an AWESOME song, so you should listen to it anyway: Congratulations by Blue October
