  1. ECE is still your best bet, but focus on the child development aspect of it.  In some universities this is in a different department, such as Family and Consumer Sciences (the modern name for home ec).  If you want to own a daycare, a minor in business management would be a good idea.

  2. Honestly, you don't need a degree to have your own registered home daycare and many daycare centers will hire you without a degree... however your pay will go up with a degree. You will also have more options at more prestigious daycares or accredited daycare centers with a degree. Receiving a AA in Early Childhood Education - some associates programs will offer you field experience opportunities and will also require you to take business classes such as accounting and classes geared toward managing a daycare - how to be a director of a daycare center. If you are just wanting to be a home daycare provider - it would be nice to have some of those courses as a basis for theory on child development, but not required by DHS (In Iowa at least) for you to have a degree. Many times it is with more experience when you are able to change your classification of type of home daycare provider.

  3. I would say early childhood education.Maybe a special needs teacher or a speech therapist.

  4. Early childhood.  you need BA degree in some states- or enrolled in you BA program.  Good Luck- owning your own child care center is tough- but kids are great!
