Question:

Does anyone know a good foundation to wear if you have oily skin?

I have extremely oily skin. I used pressed powder on my face. I put it on in the morning and by the afternoon my face looks absolutely disgusting. It's oily and it makes the cover up chunk together which makes my face just look extremely dirty. Ew!

  1. Oooo i have the same exact problem. Ok so through my teenage life of experimenting with good foundations, i have come to realize that i needed to ditch my pressed powder and go with loose powder! I think it makes so much more of a difference. Also im sure you notice that our oily skin can tend to give us more acne. For this i carry with me those clearsil acne treatment cream. I will tell you it's wonderful use in a second.

So I kind of have a routine since throughout the day my face turns into oil city. In my makeup bag i carry my powder foundation (Mineral Wear, found at drugstores and whatnot orrrr Almay loose powder) but i also carry Oil blotting sheets (also found at drug stores) annnd the handy dandy Clearsil acne treatment cream.

So here is your new routine for the road to oil-free skin.

When you wake up wash your face with an exfoliating face wash.

Preferably i use the Proactiv system (the best thing ever)

then use concealer to patch up any bad looking spots, afterwards put on your loose powder. (Anything from Mineral wear to Bare escentuals)

If you're for the natural look, just stop here, if not continue with your usual routine of eye makeup and whatnot.

Throughout the day you may start to feel that evil oil seep up again. Don't hesitate! Bust our your oil blotting sheets and blot them up! Once you feel fresh again finish up by using your Clearsil TINTED acne cream. I find that this stuff really soaks up the oil and leaves you face looooking oh so smooth. (kind of weird huh?) but don't put too much!

Then you may carry on throughout the day, applying a little bit of powder here an there.

There isn't really a makeup that will keep working throughout the day that will defy oil all day long....(if there was i'd have it in a heartbeat) But hopefully this simple routine will work for you too, plus the dose of benzoyl oxide from the acne cream will keep pimples away!

    Hope you found this helpful!

    Oh p.s.

I find that using liquid foundation can tend to make my face more oily. Just keep using powder since it will absorb oil. But don't totally dry out your skin, at night use a grease free lotion to repair your skin (proactiv has the best kind)

And when choosing color for foundation:

Looking for liquid - choose something that LOOKS darker, because when you spread it out it will get lighter

Looking for powder - Go slightly lighter, too dark will appear cake-batter-y which is gross!

But remember going lighter is always better then going darker!!

  2. I have oily skin, hate it, and use Almay's Clear Complexion liquid foundation with Mark.'s Powder Buff foundation.

  3. Do yourself a HUGE favor and get some samples of what I use:

The oil control powder and Hollywood mineral foundation from LA Minerals.

Oh...get the Veil too, cuz it makes your face look flawless and soaks up extra oil too!

Their samples are like $1 and they ship them free. I love their makeup!

It lasts me all day, even if I sweat!

  4. mac foundation or max factor

  5. I find the Colorstay (Revlon)  Foundation very good for staying power and not being Oily - if you are having problem with pressed powder clumping up - use loose - also Loreal Bare Minerals knockoff is great for all types of skin and is very light feeling and natural looking.  Hope this helps - As an aside having oily skin now may keep you from wrinkles down the road so it isn't all bad.

  6. I suggest a primer -you can find one at MAC, it prevents oil breakthrough throughout the day --youll notice a huge differance. Sometimes its a change of skin care you need rather than foundation

  7. Try puritycosmetics.co.uk. It is really good!
