  2. My favourite restaraunt in town is Opus on Cornwall Street, fantastic food with really excellent service.

    happy eating.

  4. Well, I'll assume that you're visiting the city centre - which isn't too far to visit from any of the outskirts if you're not in the middle!

For Italian: San Carlo, widely considered the best Italian restaurant outside London.

For French: Michelles, on Corporation Street. Great food and not too pricey, unlike a lot of French cuisine.

For a great burger: The homemade Burger Company in Brindley place - marvellous burgers and a meal for under a tenner each if you're stuck for cash.

For Mexican: Santa Fe in the mailbox - a great setting.

For Chinese - any of the restaurants in the Chinese quarter in the Arcadian.

For Japanese - Shogun Teppanaki also in the mailbox.

For Indian, don't go anywhere in the city centre - go somewhere in the Balti Triangle (in the Sparkbrook) area.

For just a nice general restaurant - go to the Living Room on Broad St - about £25 a head.

  5. ther's like a chinese quarter quite near to the alexandra theatre. ther's sum luvvly places along ther bt a couple r a bit pricey!

  6. If you want a truely authentic curry, try the Ladypool Road - delicious meals for less than a fiver.

  7. Shimla Pinks on Broad Street (Indian) or Tin Tins just off Broad Street (Chinese). Both are fantastic.

  8. Head to the Balti triangle for some good indian food.

Theres also a great indian place in Sellyoak highstreet called Chamon...the food is excellent and well priced!

  9. Shimla Pinks

  10. There are some wonderful restaurants in the Mailbox - 2 mins walk from Broad Street in the city centre.  Bham is buzzing with good places to eat and drink - from the Chinese Quarter to the Balti Triangle (indian).

If you cant choose - why not go to Jimmy Spices on Broad Street (city centre)..... it is a very nice, all you can eat buffet, with a chinese counter doing delicious stir frys, Indian counter with a good range of baltis, masalas and sheesh kebabs. There is also a fresh pizza counter and pasta.... yummmmm

  11. I know there is a lot of chains on Broad street but Nandos offers good value for money and is a popular destination with me. I also like Shimla Pinks

  12. Laura's of Northfield is excellent quality home cooked grub.  Food prepared by 2 well suited partners and though order is sometimes a little while being prepared it is always fresh and good value for money

  13. I agree with 'thevinternet' on 1 of her choices.

My all time fave in Brum:

Santa Fe in the Mailbox (a shopping/eating/drinking venue)- delicious mexican food, great service and not too expensive.  About 5 minutes walk from New Street Rail station, city centre.

Santa Fe Restaurant Bar - info from www.bt.com

    Tel: 0121 6321250

178/180 Wharfside St, The Mailbox, Birmingham B1 1RN

  14. I think it's Broad Street that is a good place - lots of different restaurants.  Do an internet search and you are bound to find lots.  I've not been for a few years but there was a really good and trendy Indian called Shimla Pinks (might not be spelt correctly) and that was wonderful.
