Never thought about the thrift stores, I got mine off craigslist.com, an Old Towne tandem kayak.

I found an almost brand new ocean kayak at Goodwill.

I got a $1,500 (ish) kayak for $100.

Shop around and be patient... something will fall in your lap someday.
