We are planning to watch the sun rise tomorrow (the longest day) and Ilkley moor is a little too far so does anyone know a good place to see the sun rise (i.e no obstructions or as few as possible) in Leeds? Is there an area not too far out that you can see the horizon from? Thanks.

  1. What about Almscliff Crag near North Rigton? There is some parking on the roadside and no light pollution from Leeds or Harrogate as you are on a high point in a valley between them. It's a good place for stargazing too.

  2. i also sugest almscliff crag near north rigton

iv wa there last saturday soltice for a friends birthday and was surprised to see others ther as well( about 100 people)

fortunalty the weather was clear at 4.00 in the morning drinking tea coffe and eating cakes.

aparantly it a popular thing to do

  3. Sorry but havnt you just asked this question.  I take it you didnt like any of the answers.

There is nowhere in the centre or close to the centre of leeds that you can go to see a decent sunrise.  You need to go to one of the local moors.

I still suggest Deer park - or Otley chevin - both are within a small trek from Leeds city centre.

  4. OH! snap! thanks for reminding me its the longest day!!! UR the best! i dont know anything about where you live so i cant tell. But the beach would be soooooo nice!! Have a star just for helping ME out!
