I'm looking for a portable fish finder that works good. I'm thinking about using it on those rental boats. I'm am looking for something not too expensive (around the $100 range).

  1. I like the cudas & the eagles because they are compact. My fishing buddy has a hummingbird portable for the exact reason you have stated and he has solved the transducer problem quite nicely and simply. He has mounted the transducer and extra cable onto a board that hangs over the side of the boat. Everything is out of the way. And, if you are wondering, the low end units do not respond well at high speeds... but they do help find fish when idling around. Good luck!

here yago bud. It does the trick.  i got one last spring and its been golden. runs on aa so that can get costly. suction cup transducer (be sure to also tie it to your boat with the rope provided to avoid chopping it off if it gets away.)wire needs to be rolled up tight and placed strategically around the transducer to get the unit closed again, but i just toss it around and its been great for 2 years.

    tight lines!
