it would be extremely helpful to have a site complete with surveys done on nursery rhymes.

  1. You can find the lyrics and audio (MIDI) files of several nursery rhymes at www.indianchild.com/nursery

You may also try www.rhymes.org.uk for all of the lyrics to the most traditional nursery rhymes with their origins, history and meanings.

  2. google "meanings of nursery rhymes"

You'll be surprised at what some of them mean.

    For example:

Ring around the Rosie is about the Black Plague.

"Ring around the Rosie" describes what the infection (i think it was that)looked like.

"Ashes, Ashes refers to the burning of those bodies to prevent the spread of the plague.

"We all fall down" refers to dying

I actually forgot what the pocket full of posies meant but I think you get the general idea.
