  2. Hi Hanah

Your local newspaper will always give you a a start.....and as a poet, you will know that from acorns do great oak trees grow.

After that...you submit your poems to any mags that you feel appropriate to your poetry. They will say yay or nay.

There is a thing called vanity publishing. Google it. These people will publish anything within reason if you pay them to do it. It's prettty expensive I think.

    So good luck. Best wishes...xx

  3. Hiya

Well your local area magazine will probably publish your poems.

I have seen a page in Pick Me Up magazine where some readers poems were published.

I havent read that magazine in a while so I dont know if they still do that feature but it is worth a look and try anyway.

    Hope this helps x

  4. There's not much of a market for poetry these days. A few magazines accept submissions, but most of them are from established, already-published poets.

Go to the bookstore and pick up a copy of "Poets and Writers." You find listings in the back of publications that are accepting submissions as well as the writer guidelines.

You might also check out "Writers & Poets Market" for a listing of markets.

Beware of online posting that gets you an email saying that you've been selected or that you've "won." It will state that you are going to be "published" in a volume of "prize winning" poets, etc, and then you will be given the opportunity to purchase this "volume" for $50 - $99.

It's a scam. It's called the National Poetry Library, poetryonline.com, poetry.com and other assorted labels. You can read about them on any of the scam sites. They simply pray on people who are desperate to be published. But any legitimate poet or writer knows it's a scam (and a joke).

Never enter a contest that requires you to pay money to be considered. Only enter contests run by legitimate writers and judged by noteworthy poets.

Good luck to you and happy writing!

  5. There aint no easy way ..sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Send your poems to some good publishing houses and prepare for acceptance, or rejection.
