I need to have something to put around areas where the roaches visit; however, this may also be a place reachable to children and pets. I appreciate your help and advise.

  1. I only know of using glue traps. Real Kill makes them and they come 4 to a package. They definitely work to catch them. If you or a child or pet gets stuck on one, it is my understanding you can pour vegetable oil such as Crisco on them to get unstuck. Also, Ortho Home Defense Max is guaranteed to work for 6-12 months by spraying along the baseboards of your home and outside along the boundaries of your home. Good luck. I hope one or both of these work for you.

  2. try spraying them with vinegar?

it works on some other pests like bees.

  3. a good start is to go around the opposite wall of the kitchen sink, take a small drill bit smaller than 1/4 inch. make holes in wall about three feet up on wall. take a clean, dry dish washing liquid bottle and fill it about a third full of boric acid powder or you can buy a product called roach proof, contains the same thing. puff this in to the holes and then seal them with some plaster. get under both of your sinks, bathrooms and kitchen sink and puff this in and around any gaps around pipes, water and sewer. buy some steel wool at local store and stuff around the gaps to keep them in or out of gaps. most of these roaches live inside your walls. also keep food in sealed containers. dry up any standing water or wet surfaces. keep your home clean and free of anything that they can eat. don't leave dishes in the sink. also, if you have a dishwasher, puff it on sides and under it. you do not need any of the powder in any area on the surface, that is exposed to yourself or pets. boric acid is a mineral like salt. will not hurt animals or people. but will kill roaches. do this like I have stated and you will see a great decline of these pests and will eventually eliminate them. do this about twice a month

  4. Pull their legs off one by one.
