Does anyone know a recipe for home aid carpet cleaner for pet urine?

  1. Great question! I always use use a solution of 50% white vinegar and 50% water in a spray bottle.

    If the carpet is still wet from the urine, try to dry it up with a towel or paper towels. get as much of it as you can.

    Then , take the vinegar and water mix an apply it liberally to the carpet. dry it well. that should get rid of most of the smell.

    Then you can use a mix of 1 part baking soda and 3 parts hydrogen peroxide and work it in with a scrubbing brush or your fingers. allow this to set for around 5 minutes. You can then leave it until it dries, or soak up excess moisture with another towel. Then any stain and smell should be completely gone.

    The vinegar will neutralize the ammonia and hydrogen peroxide is a powerful oxidizer capable of killing bacteria which cause the urine smells. Baking soda of course helps with the deodorizing.
