  1. I don't know either book, but why can't they make pigs! You can either have them make a pig face (or even a mask) out of plain white paper plates. Paint them pink- glue triangles for ears and circular shapes for noses.

OR they can make a piggy bank out of a coffee can. Paint it pink and glue a face on the bottom end, a pipe cleaner twisted into a curly tail on the lid and something short for legs (you could use bottle caps or small pieces of wood or corks!). Cut slits into the coffee can's lid so they can put their money in- or if you have a handy dad to volunteer, maybe make cuts on the pigs back with some sort of tool- I have no idea how!

If you make pigs, you must have a snack of pancakes to go with it! My son loves the little frozen mini pancakes. They microwave in just a few seconds.

  2. I'm not exactly sure the age range that you are working with, but you can have them come up with their own stories and make books that are similar to if you give a pig a pancake. I never read that book before, but i read If you give a moose a muffin and if you give a mouse a cookie so I'm assuming it's along the same lines. You could have them branch off into groups to make a stories, and you could give them specific subjects like if you give a dog some peanut butter, or something else like that that would be wacky and have them take turns reading or even acting out the book they havce created, or make it like charadees where each group acts out the situation, and the rest of the class has to guess what their book is.
