There is a series of games for the playstation called G1 jockey and i think it may be available on the PC.

This game has you starting off your riding career as an apprentice.

A good game for the PC is John McCririck's Starters Orders 2.

This game has you playing as an owner/trainer. You purchase, breed and race horses, but the racing of the horses isn't anywhere near as in depth as G1 jockey because the focus of the game is on the training and ownership.

you can either be a paying member or play for free. Its an ever improving game with a great society of members from all around the world.

The forum co-inciding with the site is also great.

You can race a stable of horses and converse with the other members- mostly everyone will give you a hand with the game.
