Does anyone know about Morel Mushrooms? Is it still Morel season is southwest Michigan?

I found a few good sized lighter colored ones in my yard yesterday. They were by a pine and a dying elm on the side of my lawn. I live in a heaviliy wooded area by Lake Michigan. What type of trees do they tend to be by? I was going to go Morel hunting in my area today! Is it true that they tend to be by ferns? There are tons of ferns in my ravine. And what is the average size of a morel? Any info. is greatly appreciated! Oh, what's the best way to eat them?

Look in any wooded area.  They are found in Oklahoma in the oak-hickory forest.  I have heard that are good fried in butter.  Personally, I dont want to gather any wild mushrooms
