Can anyone give me tips about SAB? Has anyone been there? Or has anyone danced or watched a performance?

  1. Hi Plieki,

I don't know much about SAB, but what I do know I can tell you.

First of all, this is the official training academy of the New York City Ballet, a very prestigious ballet company.  The NYCB, and obviously also the school, trains in the Balanchine method.  If you want to know more about the Balanchine method (and the other methods), try here:

The SAB doesn't have specific performances, as it is the training academy for NYCB.  Therefore, all the performances including the students of SAB are through the NYCB company.  The students are featured for the childrens' roles.  I saw Coppélia, the Nutcracker, and Swan Lake.  They were beautiful, of course, and very interesting to watch as the schools I train and teach at do not use the Balanchine method and I am refreshed when I see such an unusual and interesting method of dance.

You can take a virtual tour here:

It is a very nice school.  It's a different world than the semi-professional schools to which many domestic and unprofessional dancers are accustomed.

    Here is their website:

Hope this helped. Remember, always feel free to contact me with further questions.♥
