I have always seen flash video clips of early innovation aircrafts that dont succeed in their flights and the one that always stuck in my head was an airplane with literally 5-7 wings stacked on top of each other with disasterous results. Family Guy has even parodied it. if anyone knows of any pics or weblinks about the this plane would help satisfy my curiosity.

  1. There are biplanes,triplanes,quadriplanes..etc...t... looking those up.

  2. Yes, it's a very familiar picture.  I suggest an internet search on "early airplanes."

Alexander Graham Bell was, in fact, an early airplane experimenter.  He built a really weird airplane called the "tetrahedral kite," which is also worth looking up.

    Have fun.

  3. Horatio Phillips would be the name you are looking for. Here you go...

Or is it the Gerhardt Cycloplane? (Link 2)

  4. Wasn't Alexander Graham Bell one of those who experimented with such a plane?
