  1. you would have to know the lawyer and the country where it was handled and probably have to get a court order but its possible

  2. Private adoptions can be opened or closed.  Typically the word "private" refers to using an attorney rather than an agency.  If you know the attorney or attorneys used, or the courthouse where the paperwork was filed, you may be able to get information if it was an "open" adoption.  If nothing else, you could leave a letter with your information if the other party tries contacting the same place for additional info.

    Good luck to you.

  3. Contact the Adoption Registry in your state.  For a small fee, you can register if you are a birthmother, birthfather, child or adoptive parent.  Siblings in some states, as well.

If someone is also searching for you, they will get you in touch with each other.

Otherwise, you can do a search on Tina's Adoption Search website, and they will teach you how to do free searches, etc.

    Good luck!

  4. depends on the state and the age of the child. for example in FL it's a match system, if the birth parent wants to be found she signs up, then when the child turns 18 she/he sign the registry and get the info.
